ABSTRACT

The aim of the current research work is to evaluate the biochemical changes of fruit extracts of Wrightia tinctoria in alloxan induced diabetic rats. Methanolic and ethyl acetate extracts of W. tinctoria were obtained by cold maceration and have been administered to alloxan induced diabetic albino rats. Parameters including Blood glucose, Triglycerides, Conflict of Interest: None Declared ! Cholesterol, Protein, Urea, Creatinine, SGPT, SGOT were checked using standard test kits and methods after administration of extracts and found significant improvement. Histological changes in pancreas and liver of the animal were also examined. The study showed significant improvement after giving drug extracts in diabetic rats. The implications of results after administration of the extracts show their potential use in management of diabetes.
